The Palheiro Estate Today
The farmland and much of the forest have given way to the Palheiro Golf course which opened in 1993.

The garden exists in four parts: the Main Garden north of the Casa Velha, the Jardin da Senhora, the garden of Casa Velha and the wild ravine known as the `Ribeiro do Inferno´.
The Main Garden includes a series of ponds that cascade one into another, lawns intersected with herbaceous borders, rose and clematis pergolas and an amazing variety of trees, including tulip, blue cedar, palms, Norfolk Island pines and Redwood, the list is endless!
The teahouse in the Jardin da Senhora, next to the golf course was opened in October 2003.

Other activities on the estate include the real estate development surrounding the golf course and the production of orchids and proteas at Florialis situated at the eastern end of the property.
